Got your Learner Licence? Awesome.
Now it’s time to think about your Restricted Licence. Under the CBTA assessment system as operated by Ornsby Motorcycle Training, there is NO MINIMUM time restriction for applying for your Restricted Licence—the only restriction is you must be at least 16½ years of age. You do NOT need to have your Learner Licence for any minimum period of time.
However, to get your Restricted Licence you need to pass the Competency-Based Training & Assessment (CBTA 6R / Restricted). To help you achieve this, and to improve your general riding skills we recommend undertaking some intermediate rider training. You can do this one of two ways (or both if you wish):
-
Undertake the ACC subsidised Ride Forever Bronze Course
-
Undertake one-on-one training with one of our instructors
Both courses are designed to take you to the next level so you can pass your Competency-Based Training & Assessment (CBTA 6R / Restricted). And there is some good news—if you choose to do the Ride Forever Bronze Course, ACC will help out by heavily subsidising the cost! Should you choose, we can also simply take you through the CBTA 6R (Restricted) assessment (although we strongly recommend training prior to undertaking this assessment).
