From 1 July 2026, ACC is introducing a new initiative for New Zealand motorcyclists called the ACC Rider Reward. Replacing the previous ACC Cashback programme, this new incentive rewards riders who invest in their skills and safety through advanced rider training.
If you complete a Ride Forever Gold Course, you may qualify for a 25% discount on your ACC motorcycle levy, helping to reduce the cost of your motorcycle registration while continuing to build safer riding habits.
What is the ACC Rider Reward?
The ACC Rider Reward provides eligible motorcyclists with a 25% reduction on the ACC portion of their motorcycle registration (rego). The reward recognises riders who have completed advanced motorcycle training and are actively investing in safer riding on New Zealand roads.
How Do You Qualify?
To receive the ACC Rider Reward, you must:
- Complete a Ride Forever Gold Course.
- Have completed the course on or after 1 July 2025.
- Renew your motorcycle registration with a licence start date of 1 July 2026 or later.
- Hold a current New Zealand motorcycle licence.
- Be the registered owner of the motorcycle(s).
The good news is that the discount applies to all motorcycles registered in your name, not just the motorcycle used during the training.
Who Can Attend a Ride Forever Gold Course?
Ride Forever Gold Courses are designed for experienced riders looking to further develop their roadcraft, hazard awareness, cornering skills, and riding strategies.
To attend a Gold Course, you must:
- Hold a Full Motorcycle Licence
Important Things to Know
Before renewing your rego, keep the following in mind:
- The ACC Rider Reward may take up to 48 hours to appear in the registration system after you complete your Gold Course.
- The discount remains valid for 2 years from the date of your course.
- To continue receiving the discount beyond the 2-year period, you’ll need to complete another Ride Forever Gold Course.
