At Ornsby Motorcycle Training we offer a simple two hour ‘Learn To Ride’ 1 on 1 training session — designed to build your confidence so you can pass your Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) and move onto your Learner Licence Theory Test.

Or—for competent riders, we can simply take you through the BHST. Once you’ve passed both tests, we can assist with guiding you through your restricted motorcycle licence as well as providing specialised training for your full licence test. We even have a ‘ride forever” course designed specifically for riders looking to refresh their skills.

This two-hour session allows you to get some one-on-one motorcycle skill training without the pressure of the Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST). This is perfect for anyone who needs to learn to ride and should be your first step. Depending on how you progress – at the conclusion of the lesson, the instructor may tell you to go ahead and book the Basic Handling Skills Test BHST–or may tell you to repeat this session to improve your skills.

This option is also a good idea if you do not pass the Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) on the first attempt.

2 HOUR BASIC HANDLING SKILLS TEST (BHST+) INCLUDING PRACTICE >

 

This 2 hour session is for any rider who feels it would be beneficial to have more practice and tuition prior to undertaking the Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST). Best suited to riders with minimal experience (for example; dirt bikes)–or–a Learner rider who has already completed one or more Learn-to-ride sessions. Please note: this is NOT a learn-to-ride lesson and is NOT suitable for absolute beginners. In this session, one of our professional instructors will guide you through a series of skills and competencies prior to doing the BHST itself.

YOU GET:

  • One-on-one practice and tuition with a professional riding instructor
  • Motorcycle hire (Suzuki GN125) included
  • Helmet, jacket and gloves included
  • Briefing, preparation and assessment of your Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST)
  • If you achieve a pass result upon completing the Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) you will receive a BHST certificate which you then present to a NZTA Licensing agent to allow you to undertake the Licence Theory Test.

The Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) ONLY >

 

This is the BHST test only. This is NOT RECOMMENDED for riders who have NOT undertaken prior riding training. There is minimal riding tuition in this option.

  • Briefing, preparation and assessment of your Basic Skills Handling Test (BHST)

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Passing your BHST is not guaranteed—some riders may require further training and re-testing.
  • ALL RIDERS are required to wear sturdy footwear and long pants—instructors may refuse training to riders who are not properly attired. DO NOT turn up in shorts and / or jandals.
  • ALL RIDERS must bring with them suitable identification—either; Drivers Licence, passport or student ID.
  • If you can not attend a booked course or test—let us know 24 hours in advance and we will reschedule you at no cost. We do not offer refunds to riders who do not ‘show on the day’.
